The six patterns

Every module in this track is one of these six, applied somewhere new. You are never learning a new subject — you are recognising furniture in a room you have already been in.

1 · The LoopTake in, decide, change something. A robot's main loop and a web server's request handler are the same code shape.
2 · The Two ClocksBuild time versus run time. Nearly every performance bug you will ever be handed is work on the wrong clock.
3 · The Correction LoopA PID gain on a robot arm and a learning rate in a neural network are the same knob, and they fail the same way.
4 · LayersEach layer hides its method and keeps one promise. When something breaks, ask which promise was broken.
5 · IdempotenceSafe to repeat, or it cannot be retried. This is what stands between a business and slowly bleeding money.
6 · Fail softly, loudlyThe user gets a calm sentence. You get a log line. This is the clearest line between a junior and a hire.

What this does not promise

This will not make you a machine learning researcher. That path needs the mathematics, and this track does not pretend otherwise.

The certificate will not get you hired. Including ours. What gets you hired is a deployed system a stranger can open, evidence you handled failure, and the ability to explain the pattern behind it in under two minutes. The certificate opens the conversation. The deployed thing wins it.

We would rather tell you that now than have you discover it in three months.
